Mitzukagami - The Water Mirror

Silver with fossil Baltic amber

Inspired by the poetic concept of a water mirror, Mizukagami is an interactive, sculptural narrative. At its heart is a fully bloomed sterling silver water lily with a rich amber center, suspended from a hand-fabricated chain of stylized lily pads. Embracing the ritual of jewelry, the entire chain is designed to fit perfectly inside its custom-forged cylindrical vessel. This piece creates a physical space for reflection, capturing a moment of natural beauty within a secret silver sanctuary.

Vessels celebrate the rituals and secrets of jewellery.

Design notes

How the idea developed

This piece was inspired by ritual of jewellery, mythology, the natural world and the local Dutch landscape filled with water channels and blooming lilies in the spring and summer.

The challenge: Creating a reflective lid for the vessel so the hammered underside of the petals would be shown in the mirror.
